Military Satellite Communications (MilSatCom) has been growing in focus in the recent years. With flexible operational services, compact and portable ground terminals, MilSatCom offers flexible access to various levels of command and control for militaries operations around the world. The positive results of MilSatCom shown from its operational successes evidenced from its deployment in evidenced by recent usage rates in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Other than the battlefield environment, MilSatCom is also deployed during peacekeeping mission to ensure that while being mobile, warfighters can maintain constant effective communications to command and control checkpoints in a combat environment.

The growing use of MilSatCom requires militaries to ensure operational of SatCom remains effective and efficient. Given the existing technological limitations of MilSatCom, militaries are constantly upgrading their technological know-how in this area to fully exploit the benefits of this emerging capability.
