Shipyard for ship building and ship repairing; building of specialised ships up to 125,000 tdw, such as container vessels, chemical carriers, product and gas tankers, ice breakers, barge carriers; building of submarines; surface fighting and auxiliary ships including fleet support ships, frigates and corvettes; offshore equipment; fibre lamination technology; machine building, deck auxiliaries and other ships' gear; automotive engineering

Essentially, the group comprises Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft and HDW-Gaarden in Kiel, Nobiskrug in Rendsburg, Blohm + Voss und Blohm + Voss Repair in Hamburg, Nordseewerke in Emden, as well as Kockums in Sweden and Hellenic Shipyards in Greece. As 75-percent stockholder, ThyssenKrupp has assumed industrial management of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, One Equity Partners (OEP) owning the remaining 25-percent stake.

All in all, the shipyard alliance represents a sales volume of around €2 billion and presently employs a workforce of aprrox. 8.700 people (as of September 30, 2007). ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems perceives itself as a systems supplier commanding a strong position in the market for naval vessels.

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems is embedded in the ThyssenKrupp corporate group’s technologies sector. As management holding company, Hamburg-based ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems parents the new shipyard alliance, bundling staff and service functions which are furnished to the different product fields and companies.
