SeaFox I (ROV - Mine Identification, Inspection, Training)
ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH
The ATLAS SeaFox I is an small and lightweight underwater vehicle. It is based on the proven design of the well known SeaFox C. The SeaFox I is fitted with an inertial navigation system and a 360° forward looking sonar for autonomous operations. This small and low weight ROV shows promise as a means of rapidly providing underwater reconnaissance and inspection of the harbour and its piers, approaches and anchorages. Beside training possible new roles would include detecting explosives laid/positioned on the sea bottom beneath and adjacent to a ship at risk, and to inspect the ship’s hull and the nearby berth.
The payload for bottom survey is a side scan sonar. For ships hull inspection an uplooking side scan sonar and a TV system will be integrated, can be enhanced with a laser scanning system for a three dimensional identification of objects attached on the ship’s hull.
