Mine Warfare Systems

Mines constitute a great danger which is not confined to war and conflict scenarios. They are very inexpensive and effective. There existence is a permanent threat to maritime traffic, to trade and, last but not least, to human life. The ability to combat mines is a key task for every navy.

State-of-the-art minehunters are the preferred means of clearing safe passages for ships. ATLAS ELEKTRONIK’s systems are designed for these challenges. We have equipped many of the world‘s navies for more than 40 years. The German Navy, for example, has one of the largest mine counter-measures forces and has assumed a leading role in combating mines world-wide.

ATLAS’ minehunting sonars – hull mounted or deployed on AUVs – enable low-risk minehunting at sea for both ship and crew. SEAFOX for example is designed as an expendable ROV and is used as intelligent ammunition for mine neutralisation. As an expendable device, it can also be flexibly integrated in new-build or upgrade programmes. For the US Navy we supply a version which can be deployed from helicopters – another important development of organic MCM.
